The University of Zaragoza is the main centre of technological innovation in the Ebro Valley and has great prestige among the group of both Spanish and European universities it has relations with.
The Group of New Technologies in Vehicles and Road Security (VEHIVIAL) is one of the investigation groups of the University of Zaragoza and is officially registered as Applied Quality Research Group by the Regional Government of Aragón. Besides its research activity, VEHIVIAL is directly involved in teaching activities at the Higher Polytechnic Engineering School and the Universitary School for Technical Industrial Engineers and participates in the departmental Doctoral Program in New Technologies in the Automotive Engineering. The members of VEHIVIAL participate in many activities and forums, including R&D projects, scientific conferences, courses and seminars.
Finally, VEHIVIAL is also deeply involved in promoting collaborations and coordinated projects with other research groups and departments, and national, European and international networks.
VEHIVIAL members carry out basic and applied research in four main areas that have an effect on the development of novel vehicles with improved active and passive security systems and on the behaviour of the conductor and the vehicle in all the possible situations.
This main investigation lines are:
- Vehicles engineering.
- Road security.
- New materials applied to vehicles.
- Noise and vibration.
